hen the late Mr. & Mrs. Abraham Enns began farming
in Manitoba over 75 years ago, they had no idea of the changes that would take place in
the field of agriculture in the latter half of the 20th century. And they certainly didn't
have any inkling of the role their sons and grandsons would play in these changes.
In 1953, their sons Jake and Harry Enns entered the farm equipment business as an
Allis-Chalmers and New Holland dealer in Sanford. In 1956, a long relationship was
established when Enns Brothers became the John Deere Dealer for the Sanford area.
Five years later the dealership moved to the corner of Hwy 3 and the Perimeter at
Oak Bluff – now the site of its Corporate Head Office. By 1987 Enns Brothers had
opened a second branch in Morris, in 1992 a third in Portage la Prairie, and in 1998
the company assumed responsibility for the Interlake area. June 2004 marked the opening
of a brand-new 8,000 square foot building in Arborg.
Today, three of Jake's sons are involved with the dealership. Vic joined Enns Brothers
in 1974 and is currently the General Manager. Dave started in 1976 and is now the General
Sales Manager, and Bob, the Lawn and Garden Sales Manager, joined his brothers in 1979.
Enns Brothers currently operates out of a combined total of 169,600 square feet of shop,
warehouse and office space, 85% of which is dedicated to “after sales” service. Today the
company employs over 100 people in its 4 locations, with 75% of the staff working in
product support areas.
Our aim today is the same as it was in 1956 – to serve Manitoba’s farm community,
with the best products, the best prices and the best people.
Enns Brothers – Celebrating over 50 years still – Solid, Stable, Still John Deere!
